NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 9, 2019 – The Colby-Sawyer College women's soccer team defeated Dean College, 5-1, in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon at Kelsey Field.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 5-8 and will resume Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday with a noon start at Anna Maria. Dean drops to 2-9. The Bulldogs host a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) match against Bay Path at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Dean will become a full core member institution of the GNAC beginning with the 2020-21 academic year.
Colby-Sawyer controlled much of the play in the first half but was kept off the scoreboard until late in the frame thanks to great goalkeeping by senior Macy Parisee (East Freetown, Mass.). The Chargers broke through in the 40th minute when sophomore
Lydia Nattress (Winooski, Vt.) notched her first collegiate goal off a feed from first-year
Kelsey Cranston (Ipswich, Mass.).
The home team erupted for four goals in the second half with a pair from senior
Molly MacLure (Westford, Mass.) and two from first-year
Hannah Marquis (Weare, N.H.).
Dean was able to sneak a goal in before the final horn sounded at 89:59. Sophomore Miranda Seacord (Cambridge, N.Y.) chipped the ball over the oncoming goalie that just crossed the goal line before time expired.
Colby-Sawyer first-year goalie
Alexis LeBreton (Bangor, Maine) made four saves to earn her first collegiate victory. Macy Parisee finished with 13 saves for the Bulldogs.
The Chargers outshot Dean 33-6 and had a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
