NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 5, 2019 – The Colby-Sawyer College women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest against Johnson & Wales on Saturday afternoon.
Johnson & Wales improves to 7-5 overall and sit atop the conference standings at 5-0. The Wildcats host the University of Saint Joseph on Wednesday. Colby-Sawyer falls to 4-8 overall and 2-4 in the GNAC. The Chargers host non-conference opponent Dean on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
Sophomore forward Jordan Restivo (Utica, N.Y.) scored a pair of first half goals to lift the Wildcats to the eventual victory. She notched her sixth of the season in the 9th minute off a feed from Olivia Cairrao (Bristol, R.I.). Restivo was at it again in the 23rd minute when she finished a pass from Chloe Martinez (Dartmouth, Mass.) for her seventh tally of the season.
Colby-Sawyer cut the deficit in half midway through the second half, but could not complete the comeback. First-year
Hannah Marquis (Weare, N.H.) scored into the upper corner of the net with her second goal of the season. The play was set up by senior
Leah Dupuis (Concord, N.H.) with her team leading third assist.
Wildcats keeper Colleen Lynch (New Milford, Conn.) earned the win with five saves. Colby-Sawyer first-year goalie
Alexis LeBreton (Bangor, Maine) suffered the loss with two goals allowed and a save in 29 minutes, while senior goalie
Sam Mitchell (Chester, N.H.) had three saves in 61 minutes of action.
JWU had a 13-11 edge in shots and a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.
