NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 4, 2019 – The Colby-Sawyer men's swimming and diving team kicked off the 2019-20 season by hosting Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Friday evening at the Knight Natatorium. The Chargers earned a 79-74 victory.
RESULTS
Colby-Sawyer began the night with a strong performance in the 200 medley relay. The team of junior
Garrett Scahill (Manville, R.I.), first-year
Max Isley (Valparaiso, Ind.), first-year
Kaleo Kihleng (Pohnpei, Micronesia) and senior
Tim Gablosky (Fremont, N.H.) combined for a time of 1:52.56.
Kihleng posted the only sub-minute 100 butterfly result with a time of 55.39 to take the top spot.
Isley came away with a victory in the 50 freestyle by more than four seconds with a mark of 24.15.
In the 100 freestyle, Kihleng and Isley were the top two finishers with times of 51.19 and 56.10, respectively.
Scahill won the 100 backstroke event by touching the wall in 1:01.22.
Gablosky posted a time of 29.89 to win the 50 butterfly.
The evening ended the way it began, with a strong relay performance. Isley, Scahill, Gablosky and Kihleng took the top spot in the 200 freestyle relay with a combined time of 1:40.16 to win the race by more than 10 seconds.
The Chargers host Keene State next Saturday at 1 p.m., while the Monks host Albertus Magnus next Saturday at noon.
