NEW LONDON, N.H. - October 19, 2019 - The Colby-Sawyer men's swim team competed against the club team of Division II Assumption College at the Knight Natatorium on Saturday afternoon.
The Chargers came away with an 84-53 victory. Colby-Sawyer will resume action next Saturday at Norwich.
RESULTS
The men's first victory of the day came by way of the 200-yard medley relay. First-years
Kaleo Kihleng (Pohnpei, Micronesia) and
Max Isley (Valparaiso, Ind.), as well as junior
Garrett Scahill (Manville, R.I.) and senior
Tim Gablosky (Fremont, N.H.) combined for a time of 1:53.07.
The Chargers claimed the top two spots in the 50-yard freestyle, with Kihleng swimming a 23.07 and Isley taking the runner-up spot with a 24.18.
Kihleng swam his way to a victory in the 100 yard-freestyle, producing a season best time of 50.34. Isley took second, while also posting a season-best time of 54.85.
Scahill was victorious in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 27.08. The Chargers also took second place with junior
Steven Moody (Gloucester, Mass.) posting a time of 28.12.
Gablosky swam a season best in the 50-yard butterfly, fast enough to take fourth place with a time of 29.19.
The men closed out the meet with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team comprised of Moody, Scahill, Kihleng and Isley took the top spot, by more than 13 seconds, in a time of 1:40.34.
Despite being an exhibition meet, head coach Connie Kohrs, Jr. was enthusiastic about the men's performance. "Assumption was a great primer heading into GNAC competition next week at Norwich", coach Kohrs said after the meet.
