NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - April 18, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team defeated Smith College, 9-0, on Wednesday evening.

Ashley Woodside and
Yashu Yang continued their dominant season as the 15th ranked doubles team in the region. The duo defeated Samantha Peikes and June Lee 8-1.
Evelyn Miller and
Michelle Lopes teamed at No. 2 to down Joanna Kim and Emma Essenmacher by an 8-3 score. The No. 3 tandem of
Maddy Gemerek and
Lauren Blanchard earned an 8-3 win over Kara Van Allen and Allison Ahern.
Woodside tied the single-season record for doubles wins with her 21st this season.
Each Charger won their respective singles match in straight sets to propel the team to the 9-0 win. Woodside dropped just two games at the top spot, while Yang dropped one game at the second flight. Woodside also tied the single-season record for total wins with 37 (21 doubles, 16 singles).
At No. 3, Miller played the closest match of the afternoon, but still took home the win in straight sets 6-3 and 6-4.
Gemerek cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the fourth flight. Blanchard and Hill won at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, without dropping a game.
Blanchard and Woodside now have 57 career singles wins to tie the all-time lead with former standout Ashlyn Ramsay '16.
