Johnson & Wales Outlasts Women's Soccer, 2-1

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - October 3, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match at Johnson & Wales on Wednesday evening. 

Colby-Sawyer drops to 4-5 overall and 4-3 in the conference. The Chargers will face another tough test on Saturday when Emmanuel visits to New London at 3:30 p.m. Johnson & Wales improves to  9-5 overall and 6-1 in the GNAC.

Olivia Cairrao scored both goals for the Wildcats. In the waning moments of the first half, Cairrao put the match's first goal on the board with a shot into the top right-hand corner. Cairrao then doubled the lead for the home team 3:26 into the second half.
 
The Chargers cut the lead to 2-1 with 5:26 to play when Amanda Martin stole the ball just outside the midfield circle, dribbled left into the box and shot from five yards out into the right-hand corner. The goal was her fourth of the season. 

JWU keeper Colleen Lynch earned the win in net and made three saves. Oona Bond finished with 12 saves for Colby-Sawyer.
