NEW LONDON, N.H. – January 27, 2018 – The Colby-Sawyer men's and women's swimming and diving teams celebrated senior day on Saturday with a meet against Maine Maritime and Gordon.

TEAM SCORES
The women defeated Maine Maritime 132-61, but fell to Gordon 116-88. The men earned a 96-63 win over Gordon, but fell to Maine Maritime by a score of 124-86.
Prior to the meet, seniors
Mason Amitrano (West Greenwich, R.I.),
Jocelyn Biedrzycki (Merrimack, N.H.),
Anna Gaskill (Brattleboro, Vt.),
Chris Manwaring (Alstead, N.H.) and
Makenzie Welch (Torrington, Conn.) were honored for their years of dedication to the Colby-Sawyer swim program.
Welch posted a victory in the 100 IM with a time of 1:09.59. She also came away with second place finishes in the 50 backstroke (31.15) and the 100 backstroke (1:05.28).
Amitrano won the 50 backstroke in 28.35 and followed with a close second place in the 50 breaststroke at 31.16.
Freshman
Jinnae Jang (Fall River, Mass.) took the top spot in the 100 butterfly by touching the wall in 1:05.99.
Freshman
Steve Moody (Gloucester, Mass.) beat competitors from the other two teams in the 200 freestyle with a winning time of 2:04.77. Moody also won the 100 butterfly in 1:00.92.
Sophomore
Grace Herde (Kent, Conn.) edged teammate
Rachel Zalenski (Chicopee, Mass.) in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.69. Zalenski was close behind at 28.32.
Freshman
Garrett Scahill (Manville, R.I.) won the 100 backstroke in convincing fashion with a time of 1:03.68, almost four seconds faster than second place.
Sophomore
Tim Gablosky (Fremont, N.H.) also cruised to a victory in the 500 freestyle. He swam to a time of 5:46.80 to clock in 29 seconds faster than the next finisher.
Junior
Bethany Fennessey (Windham, N.H.) posted the top time in the 100 breaststroke. She won the event in 1:21.37.
The Chargers will head to the University of Rhode Island in a couple of weeks to compete at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships.
