MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - September 6, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team was edged by #17 Middlebury, 1-0, on Wednesday afternoon.
Middlebury improves to 1-0 and will host Conn. College on Saturday at noon. The Chargers even their record to 1-1 and will host Keene State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
After the teams played to a 0-0 tie in the first half, the Panthers broke through nearly 20 minutes into the second frame with the eventual game-winner. Emma Shumway gathered a pass in traffic from Alex Barber in the middle of the box from 10 yards out and found the back of the next for her first goal of the season.

Sam Mitchell (Chester, N.H.) kept Colby-Sawyer close throughout the game by making an impressive 10 saves. Keeper Ursula Alwang made one stop for Middlebury.
