BOSTON, Mass. - September 20, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer field hockey team scored a goal in each half to earn a 2-0 road win at Wheelock Wednesday evening.
The Chargers improve to 4-2 and will complete their five-game road trip on Saturday with a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener at Castleton at 1 p.m. Wheelock falls to 1-5.
Freshman
Julia Lanctot (Sandown, N.H.) was responsible for Colby-Sawyer's first half goal. She converted on a penalty stroke in the 29th minute for her third goal of the season.
The Chargers added a goal in the second half at 58:32. Sophomore
Hadley Woodfin (Marblehead, Mass.) fed a pass to sophomore
Kailyn Lapham (Medway, Mass.) who found the back of the cage for her first collegiate goal.
Freshman goalie
Abby Ladd (Colchester, Vt.) earned the shutout with three saves, while Wheelock goalie Cassidy Smith finished with an impressive 15 saves.
Colby-Sawyer outshot Wheelock 36-6 and had a 23-1 advantage in penalty corners.
