Box Score NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 2, 2017 – The Colby-Sawyer College women's tennis team trailed 4-2 in the match but won the remaining three singles matches to come from behind to defeat Nichols, 5-4, on Saturday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 2-0 and will travel to Southern New Hampshire on Wednesday. Nichols, the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) favorite to repeat as champions, drops to 2-1 and will host Endicott on Thursday for a CCC opener.

Maddy Gemerek (Ballston Spa, N.Y.).
Nichols went in front 3-1 after a 6-0, 6-1 victory by Leonardi at the fourth singles flight. Woodside got a point back for Colby-Sawyer with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Settiwongse at the top spot. The Bison then received a 6-4, 6-2 triumph by Kaplan at No. 6 to take a 4-2 lead in the match.
Needing to win at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 to complete the comeback was exactly what the Chargers accomplished.
After dropping the first set of her No. 5 singles match, O'Connor battled back to take the second and third sets 6-2, 6-3 to pull the Chargers within 4-3.
Miller then knotted the score at 4-4 with a 6-4, 7-5 victory in the third slot over Nathanson.
The match of the afternoon, which took nearly three hours to finish, came at No. 2 with Yang and Judd. Judd took the first set 6-4, but Yang pulled even with a 6-4 win of her own in the second set. Trailing 5-2 in the third set and facing multiple match points, Yang kept fighting and came all the way back to force a tie break. She won the tie break 7-2 and the match to lift the Chargers to the victory.
