LEICESTER, Mass. - September 16, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer College field hockey team defeated Becker, 6-1, non-conference action Saturday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 3-2 and will play at Wheelock on Wednesday at 7 p.m.. Becker drops to 0-5 and will host Fitchburg State on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Becker jumped out to a 1-0 lead 15:15 into the game when Jocelyn Lebel (Grafton, Mass.) connected with Amy Cooper (Monument, Colo.) on a penalty corner.

Colby-Sawyer tied the game in the 28th minute when
Hadley Woodfin (Marblehead, Mass.) broke free all alone, tipping a shot past the right leg pad of Becker goalie Alexis Barry (Manchester, N.H.).

The Chargers would go on to score five unanswered goals in the second half.
Jordan Teixeira (Exeter, N.H.) opened the scoring when she found the back of the net on a two-on-one opportunity with
Sierra Schuster (Hopkinton, N.H.). Colby-Sawyer extended their lead to 3-1 on a
Rachel Fisher maker in the 51st minute. In the 54th minute,
Bella Robinson (Daniel Island, S.C.) put back a rebound on a
Julia Lanctot (Sandown, N.H.) shot to make the score 4-1. After
Paige Viens (Middlebury, Vt.) made the score 5-1,
Bella Robinson would net her second goal of contest to make the final 6-1.

Freshman goalie
Abby Ladd (Colchester, Vt.) earned victory for the Chargers without having to make a save. Alexis Barry made 17 saves for the Hawks.

The Chargers outshot Becker 38-2 and had a 12-5 advantage in penalty corners.Â
