Box Score NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 13, 2017 – The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team defeated Castleton, 9-0, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Wednesday afternoon at the Kelsey Tennis Courts.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the conference. The Chargers will host 2017 NCAA Tournament participant Johnson & Wales on Saturday at 1 p.m. Castleton drops to 4-3 overall and 1-1 in the NAC. The Spartans travel to Sage on Sunday for a 1 p.m. first serve.
Ashley Woodside and
Yashu Yang combined once again for a win at the top doubles flight, 8-3, over Ciara Bannister and Kirsten Kruk. The No. 2 duo of
Aislinn O'Connor and
Evelyn Miller and the No. 3 tandem of
Michelle Lopes and
Maddy Gemerek both won by an 8-0 score.
The Chargers took all six singles matches in straight sets for the 9-0 sweep. Woodside dropped just one game at the top flight over Bannister to improve to 5-0 on the season. Yang won at No. 2 by a 6-0, 6-1 score over Megan Nadler, while Miller cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 victory at the third flight against Kruk.
O'Connor pushed her win streak to four in a row with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 4 over Emily Miller.
Lauren Blanchard won at No. 5 over Danarose Weaver without dropping a game, while
Alexa Conlin won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 over Alexis Curley.
