NEWTON, Mass. – March 29, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team fell to a strong Mount Ida team, 19-10, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Mustangs improve to 7-1, while Colby-Sawyer dips to 3-2. The Chargers will resume conference action on Friday at home against Husson.
Sophomore Alyssa Kelly (Lee, Mass.) scored eight times for the Mustangs to lead all scorers.
Nicole Lavigne (Berlin, Vt.) scored four goals for the the Chargers, who jumped out to a 2-0 lead before a natural hat trick within two minutes from Kelly put Mount Ida up 3-2.
Brooke Scahill (Ledyard, Conn.) added the first of her four goals and six points, but the Chargers tied the game at four through goals by
Sierra Schuster (Hopkinton, N.H.) and
Molly Mulcahy (Nashua, N.H.), who each had multiple point days.
Scahill had six draw controls and six ground balls for Mount Ida and she scored the first of six straight goals in the second half that put the Mustangs up 16-8, capped by Kelly's seventh goal of the game on a free-position shot.
Jessica Henry (Wilbraham, Mass.) improved to 7-1 between the pipes, making nine saves for the Mustangs, while
Kailyn Lapham (Medway, Mass.) stopped 18 shots for Colby-Sawyer.

Bailey Starr (Barre, Vt.) finished with a game best eight draw controls.
