Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Blanks Lyndon, 3-0

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. - October 7, 2017 - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team picked up a 3-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) road victory at Lyndon on Saturday afternoon.

Colby-Sawyer improves to 8-2 overall and 5-0 in the NAC. The Chargers will have a quick turnaround with a 1 p.m. contest at Johnson on Sunday. The Hornets fell to 0-9-1 on the season and 0-5-1 in conference.

The Chargers got on the board in the 12th minute. Corrie Hoyt (Lebanon, Conn.) notched her second goal of the season off the right post and into the net. Both of Hoyt's goals this season have been game-winners.

Junior Hannah Fields (Shapleigh, Maine) gave the visitors a 2-0 lead in the 25th minute when she found the net for the eighth time this season, off of an assist from Maddie Chamard (Portsmouth, RI). Colby-Sawyer took that advantage into halftime, as they also outshot Lyndon 20-1 in the opening session.

The second half was more of the same, as the Chargers controlled play throughout. The Hornets stood up to the pressure until Amanda Martin (Amesbury, Mass.) was able to get a shot past the Lyndon goalie in the 69th minute for her second goal of the season. Sophomore Molly MacLure (Westford, Mass.) was credited with the assist.

Charger goalkeepers Marissa Williams (Mattapoisett, Mass.) and Oona Bond (Southborough, Mass.) had a quiet day in combining for the clean sheet, as Lyndon only managed one shot on goal. Johanna Sargent had a strong game in defeat, recording 23 saves.

Colby-Sawyer outshot Lyndon, 46-2.
