NORTHFIELD, Vt. - October 4, 2017 - Sophomore
Olivia Goodrich (Epping, N.H.) surpassed 1000 career assists as the Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team edged Norwich, 3-2, on Wednesday evening. The Chargers won by scores of 25-19, 20-25, 25-19, 24-26 and 15-8.
The Chargers have won three straight to improve to 7-12. Colby-Sawyer will host a tri-match on Saturday with Eastern Nazarene and Worcester State. Norwich, of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) drops to 9-7.
After splitting the first four sets, Colby-Sawyer used a .312 hitting percentage with six kills and just one error to put the match away with a 15-8 triumph in the fifth set.Â
Needing two assists to reach 1000, Goodrich finished the match with 21 to become the eighth player in program history to reach the 1000 assists plateau. Sophomore
Morgan Flynn (Reading, Mass.) collected a match best 19 digs and added five aces. Senior
Alli Lahiff (Haverhill, Mass.) led the Chargers with 14 kills, while sophomore
Naarah Cox (Boston, Mass.) also reached double figures with 10 kills. Sophomore
Rebecca Straubel (Altamont, N.Y.) contributed 10 digs and an impressive six aces.Â
Sophomore Monika Schneider (Brookline, N.H.) led the way for the Cadets with 11 kills and 11 digs, while Michele Zummo (Highland Mills, N.Y.) chipped in with nine kills. Junior Emily Oliver (Sagamore Hills, Ohio) led the Cadets with 25 assists on the night.
