NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 14, 2017 – The Colby-Sawyer College men's swimming and diving team dropped its opening meet of the 2017-18 season to Saint Joseph's of Maine, 138-62.
RESULTS
The Chargers began the afternoon by winning the 200 medley relay. The team of
Garrett Scahill (Manville, R.I.),
Mason Amitrano (West Greenwich, R.I.),
Steve Moody (Gloucester, Mass.) and
Chris Manwaring (Alstead, N.H.) combined for a winning time of 1:51.90.
Amitrano later picked up a victory in the 50 breaststroke in convincing fashion. He touched the wall in 30.51, almost four seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Amitrano added a win in the 100 backstroke edging teammate Scahill who finished second.
Moody collected a pair of individual second place finishes. He was runner-up in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 12:09.92 and was second in the 100 butterfly at 1:04.41.
Manwaring posted a second place finish in the 50 butterfly with a time of 29.87, while
Tim Gablosky (Fremont, N.H.) placed second in the 500 freestyle at 6:51.52.
Colby-Sawyer will return to the pool next Saturday at Keene State.
