NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 12, 2017 – The Colby-Sawyer College women's volleyball team fell to Keene State, 3-0, on Thursday evening in non-conference action at the Hogan Sports Center. The Owls won by scores of 25-20, 25-11 and 25-19.
Tonight's match was the second meeting of the season between the two teams with Keene State earning a 3-2 victory back on Sept. 8.
Keene State improves to 18-3 and will host Southern Maine on Saturday at 1 p.m. Colby-Sawyer drops to 9-14 and will host a quad match on Saturday and will play Lyndon at 11 a.m. and Johnson at 5 p.m.
The Owls received a match best 17 kills from senior Rachel Lamica (Malone, N.Y.). She hit .278 and added a pair of aces. Sophomore Olivia Mathieu (Derry, N.H.) hit an impressive .632 to finish with 13 kills along with 10 digs. Freshman setter Bailey Wilson (Moorpark, Calif.) collected 42 assists, while sophomore libero Kait West (Hopkinton, Mass.) tallied a match best 11 digs.

Naarah Cox (Boston, Mass.). She accounted for 13 kills on .385 hitting and added a match best three blocks. Junior
Courtney Murray (Quincy, Mass.) contributed four kills and seven digs. Sophomore setter
Olivia Goodrich (Epping, N.H.) registered 21 assists, seven digs and a pair of blocks.
The first set featured back and forth action with nine ties and five lead changes. The score was tied at 10-10 when Keene State committed three straight attack errors to give the Chargers a 13-10 advantage. The home team held the lead until a Kelly Hunt (Milford, Conn.) kill knotted the set at 16-16. Colby-Sawyer tied the score again at 20-20 after a Cox kill. The Owls rattled off the final five points of the set, capped by a pair of Lamica kills to take the first 25-20.
Keene State raced out to a 5-1 lead in the second set and didn't look back. The Owls hit .500 as a team with 17 kills to pull away with the 25-11 victory.
The third set was similar to the first and had 13 ties and seven lead changes. Colby-Sawyer held its largest lead of the frame at 16-12 before the Owls came back with a 10-1 run capped by a Mathieu kill to take a 22-17 lead. Lamica finished the third the way she ended the first with a pair of kills to give Keene State a 25-19 win.
