NEWTON, Mass. - September 7, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer College women's volleyball team was edged in a five set thriller at Lasell on Wednesday night. The Lasers escaped with scores of 21-25, 25-17, 25-21, 18-25 and 15-10.
The Chargers dip to 1-3 and will look to rebound this weekend with four matches in the Granite State Challenge.Â
Colby-Sawyer got off to a good start taking the first set 25-21, but the Lasell offense took over in sets two and three to take a 2-1 lead. The Charger defense caused the Laser attack to falter in the fourth set en route to a 25-18 win to even the match at 2-2. Colby-Sawyer held a 9-5 lead in the fifth set, but Lasell used an 8-0 run to take a 13-9 lead and would go on to clinch the match 15-10.Â
Gabrielle Rodriguez was the lone Charger in double figures with 15 kills. She added 18 digs for the double-double.
Micaela Cardozo was second on the team with eight kills and chipped in 13 digs.
Lexi Strong and
Rebecca Straubel had 20 digs apiece.Â
Elyssa Clairmont collected 29 assists and 12 digs. Â
