CHICOPEE, Mass. - September 4, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer field hockey earned its second straight 5-1 victory in as many days with a triumph at Elms College on Sunday afternoon.
The Chargers improve to 2-1 and will begin a five game homestand on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. contest against Regis. Elms drops to 0-2.
Each team scored a goal in the first 35 minutes, but Colby-Sawyer controlled the game with a 10-2 advantage in shots and an 8-0 edge in corners.
Freshman
Alie Jones scored for the second straight game to five the Chargers a 1-0 lead nine minutes into the game. Elms evened the score at 28:01 to send the game tied 1-1 into half time.
Colby-Sawyer continued to ramp up the pressure in the second half and broke through with four goals to clinch a comfortable victory. The Chargers outshot the Blazers 18-2 in the second half.
Sophomore
Darby Nolet scored the game-winner 9:32 into the second half off a feed from
Allyse Mullen.
Sophomore
Jordan Teixeira and Mullen added goals later in the half.
Sandwiched in between Teixeira and Mullen tallies was the first collegiate goal from freshman
Rachel Fisher.
Sophomore
Xena Ras earned the win in the cage and made two saves.
