NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 7, 2016 – The Colby-Sawyer College field hockey team blanked Regis College, 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the Sally Shaw Veitch Turf Field.
The Chargers have won three straight to improve to 3-1 and will host Bay Path on Saturday at 1 p.m. Regis drops to 0-2 and will host Rivier on September 15.
Colby-Sawyer outshot the Pride 19-1 and held a 10-1 edge in penalty corners.
The scoring came from three separate Chargers and the team has now received tallies from eight different players this season.
Sophomore
Sierra Schuster (Hopkinton, N.H.) put the home team in front 1-0 in the eighth minute, which proved to be enough for the win. She was set up nicely by reigning North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Rookie of the Week freshman
Alie Jones (Cape Neddick, Maine).
The Chargers got one more goal before the half off the stick of senior
Allyse Mullen (Wilder, Vt.). Junior
Paige Viens (Middlebury, Vt.) was credited with the assist.
Early in the second half, Colby-Sawyer added an insurance goal. Jones found the back of the cage off an assist from freshman
Hadley Woodfin (Marblehead, Mass.).
Sophomore
Xena Ras (Medfield, Mass.) stopped the only shot she faced to earn the shutout victory.
Regis junior goalie Maresa Malcolm (Barrington, N.J.) kept the Pride close with 11 saves.
