Gordon Hangs On For 1-0 Victory Over Women's Soccer

WENHAM, Mass. - September 28, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 non-conference match at Gordon on Wednesday afternoon.

Gordon improves to 4-3-1, while Colby-Sawyer dips to 1-6-1. The Chargers will look to rebound as the team returns to North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday with a 2:30 p.m. contest at intrastate rival New England College.

The play on both ends of the field was even, as the two teams traded looks back and forth, but to no avail. Most of the chances in the first half were off target, but each respective keeper made saves when called upon.

The lone goal came with less than three minutes left to play in the first half from Gordon's Lexi Potter. Asha Steele began the play by taking a shot that caromed off the crossbar to Potter who finished with her second goal of the season.

Lizzie Jorgensen had a team best two shots on goal for the Chargers.

Kali Denty made five stops for the Fighting Scots. Freshman Sam Mitchell had three saves for Colby-Sawyer.

Gordon held a 16-10 edge in shots, but the Chargers had a 5-4 advantage in shots on target.
