NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 21, 2016 – The Colby-Sawyer College field hockey team is off to its best start in program history after Wednesday's 7-4 triumph over Wheelock.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 6-2 and will play a conference opener on Saturday at New England College. Wheelock drops to 1-5 and will host Daniel Webster on Friday.
The Wildcats scored the game's first goal at the 3:57 mark on junior Katie Frade's (Dartmouth, Mass.) team leading fifth goal of the season.
Colby-Sawyer sophomore
Sierra Schuster (Hopkinton, N.H.) tied the game 14 minutes later when she deposited her fifth goal of the season into the back of the cage.
Wheelock would take the lead again in the 29th minute when Frade set up her teammate Melanie Newberg (Raynham, Mass.) who finished with her second tally of the season.
The Chargers scored twice more before the end of the half off the sticks of senior
Allyse Mullen (Wilder, Vt.) and freshman
Alie Jones (Cape Neddick, Maine) to take a 3-2 lead into the break.
