NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 13, 2016 – The Colby-Sawyer College field hockey team had its four game win streak snapped on Tuesday with a 4-0 loss to Fitchburg State.
Fitchburg State improves to 3-1 and will resume Little East Conference action at home on Saturday against UMass Dartmouth at 11 a.m. The Chargers drop to 4-2 and will play their fourth straight home game on Saturday against Becker at 1 p.m.
The visitors put three goals on the board in the first half and added a fourth early in the second. Despite the discrepancy on the scoreboard, Colby-Sawyer outshot Fitchburg State 11-5 and had an 8-5 edge in penalty corners.
Sophomore Molly Richard (Leominster, Mass.) scored twice for the Falcons and added an assist. Senior Madeline Hoffman (Mansfield, Mass.) netted the game-winner and added an assist. Freshman Taylor Elves (Winchendon, Mass.) notched her second goal of the season.

Nikki Pignone (Ipswich, Mass.) led the Chargers with two shots on goal apiece.
Falcons received a combined shutout from sophomore Brittany Linane (Portsmouth, N.H.) and junior Jordyn Conway (Feeding Hills, Mass.). Linane played the first 53 minutes and made six saves, while Conway played the final 17 minutes with one save.

Hanna Crose (Woodstock Valley, Conn.) each played a half for the Chargers.
