FARMINGTON, Maine – April 23, 2016 - Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse goalie
Meghan Castellano (Wallingford, Conn.) recorded her 11th win of the season as the Chargers defeated the University of Maine at Farmington on Saturday afternoon.
The win gives Castellano 22 career victories to put her at the top of the wins list. She made nine saves in the victory.
The Chargers have won five in a row to improve to 11-6 overall and 7-1 in the NAC. The 11 wins ties a program record with the 2006 team that went 11-5. Colby-Sawyer will await tournament seeding by the NAC earlier next week. UMF drops to 4-7 overal and 2-5.
Colby-Sawyer was led by
Nicole Lavigne netting a game-high three goals. The Chargers had four other players score a pair of goals, including
Molly Mulcahy,
Sara Berry,
Bailey Starr,
Carli Chiodo and
Caitlyn Whearty. Whearty now sits in sixth place alone in career goals with 126 and has moved into a tie for seventh with Allicia Murphy '09 in career points with 155. Berry collected four caused turnovers to give her 53 on the season.
Alaina Shorey and Rhi Jackson guided the Beavers with two goals apiece.
Alyssa Arsenault and Danielle Conway split time in net for the Beavers. Arsenault stopped a pair of shots in the first half and Conway made seven saves in the second half.
