LYNDON CENTER, Vt. - April 20, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer baseball team dropped a pair of one-run games at Lyndon on Wednesday afternoon. The Hornets won both games by a 4-3 score with game one going nine innings.

Colby-Sawyer dips to 10-16 overall and 7-11 in the NAC. The Charges will host Southern Vermont on Thursday for a single nine inning game at 3:30 p.m. Lyndon improves to 6-20 overall and 3-11 in the NAC.

Game 1 - Lyndon 4, Colby-Sawyer 3 (9inn.)

The Chargers quickly gained a 1-0 advantage at the top of the first after a score from Jackson Musco

Both teams would be at a standstill until the bottom of the sixth.  As Reece Tanguay was stealing second, the catcher's throw was off the mark and the ball continued into the outfield where the ball was misplayed by the center fielder. The error allowed Tanguay to make his way home to tie up the game.

With a scoreless seventh inning, the game moved on to extra innings.

Both pitchers would face three batters in the eighth inning, quickly moving onto the ninth.

Colby-Sawyer would score twice in the top of the ninth on an RBI singles from Brendan Thurber and Andrew Pratt.

The Hornets fought back in their last at-bat with an RBI single from Andre Eason Jr. and a game-tying double from Ryan Cordeiro. Ben Rollins then singled in Eason to take the game 4-3.

Zak Johnson earned a complete-game win with one earned run on five hits with three strikeouts.

Tanguay led the Hornets offensively with three hits on four at-bats and adding two runs.

Nathan Frongillo went 1-for-4 for the Chargers and that one hit gave him 100 career knocks.

Game 2 - Lyndon 4, Colby-Sawyer 3

The first inning saw a pair of runs from both teams. Jeff Dunn had an RBI single, while Connor Henry had a sac fly to right.

It would be a scoreless second inning and we would see nothing from the Chargers at the top of the third.

The Hornets were able to collect two runs in the bottom of the third on a sac fly and a bases loaded hit by pitch.

Tim Donovan gave the Chargers their third run in the fourth but they could not complete the comeback.

Connor Henry took the loss with three earned runs on four hits along with two strikeouts in three innings of work.  Michael Fazio finished out the night without allowing a hit or run over his three innings on the mound.
