WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – March 14, 2016 – The Colby-Sawyer baseball team fell to Indiana University-South Bend, 14-8, at the Chain of Lakes complex on Monday morning.
Colby-Sawyer drops to 3-2 and will have Tuesday off before resuming competition on Wednesday with a nine-inning game against Gallaudet at 3:30 p.m. IUSB improves to 6-4.
The Titans took a 5-0 lead after two innings, but Colby-Sawyer knotted the game with five runs in the top of the third on a
Willis Pollard RBI single, a two-run single by
Joey Fenuccio and a two-run double from
Tim Donovan.
IUSB responded with five runs of their own in the bottom of the third to take a 10-5 lead.
The Chargers got a single run back in the fourth on a
Jackson Musco single.
After the Titans added a pair of runs in the fifth, Musco drove in another run in the top of the sixth.
IUSB scored twice more in the sixth, while the Chargers' Musco added his third RBI in the eighth to complete the scoring.
Musco finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the Colby-Sawyer hitters.
Tim Donovan and
Joey Fenuccio each had a pair of hits and two RBI.
Willis Pollard and
Ian Burgess registered their first collegiate hits.
Ryan Glendye tossed a scoreless inning of relief with one strikeout in his first collegiate appearance.
