NEW LONDON, N.H. – December 9, 2016 – Colby-Sawyer freshman
Chelsea Dow (White River Junction, Vt.) scored a game-high 20 points, but it was not enough as Husson University came away with a 75-55 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over the Chargers on Friday evening.
Husson remains undefeated at 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the NAC. The Eagles will play at New England College tomorrow at 3 p.m. Colby-Sawyer drops to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play. The Chargers host Maine Maritime tomorrow at 3 p.m.

Husson had three players in double figures led by senior Darla Morales (Oxnard, Calif.) and senior Chandler Gurrette (Presque Isle, Maine) who had 17 points apiece. Gurrette added a game-high six steals. Sophomore Kenzie Worcester (Washburn, Maine) scored 16 points, while junior Anna MacKenzie (Plymouth, Maine) pulled in a team best 10 rebounds.
The first quarter was well played by both teams and featured three ties and a pair of lead changes. Each team shot over 40% from the floor and 55% from beyond the arc in a high scoring opening frame. Husson sprinted out to a 10-4 lead in the first three minutes sparked by five points from Morales. Colby-Sawyer then rattled off eight straight points with five coming from Dow and three from senior
Lexi Iannone (North Haven, Conn.). Back-to-back buckets from Gurrette gave the visitors a lead, but
Morgan Fogg (Sanford, Maine) knocked down a jumper to tie the game at 14-14. Husson finished the quarter on an 11-3 run thanks to three three-pointers and led 25-17 after one.
Husson pushed its lead to 13 after a Maegan True (Holden, Maine) three, two minutes into the second. Colby-Sawyer was able to bring the game back within five at the end of the frame after a pair of three-pointers sandwiched around a Husson layup made it 39-34 at the break. Husson finished the first half 7-of-13 from beyond the arc, while Colby-Sawyer was 6-of-15.
The Eagles led throughout the second half and were able to stave off a comeback from Colby-Sawyer to secure the victory.
