Women's Soccer Advances to Fifth Straight Title Match

BANGOR, Maine - November 2, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team will be heading to its fifth straight North Atlantic Conference (NAC) title match after defeating second seed Husson, 2-1, in the semifinals on Wednesday afternoon.

The third seed Chargers have won eight straight matches and will travel to top seed New England College on Saturday for a rematch of last year's title match. The Pilgrims defeated fifth seed Castleton, 2-0 in tonight's other semifinal match.

Colby-Sawyer senior Rachel Quaye (Westminster, Mass.) finished a feed from freshman Molly MacLure (Westford, Mass.) in the 42nd minute to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead going into the halftime break.

Less than two minutes into the second half, Mollie Roy notched the equalizer on a pass from Brooke LaBelle in the 47th minute to make the game 1-1.

For the second straight match, Molly MacLure found the back of the net with the game-winning goal. She connected off an assist from sophomore Maddie Chamard (Portsmouth, R.I.) in the 69th minute for her fifth goal of the season.

Freshman goalie Sam Mitchell had eight saves to earn the win for Colby-Sawyer. Husson keeper Kayla Gordon had three saves in the loss.
