Colby-Sawyer avenged a 4-1 regular season loss to the Pilgrims, which finish the season at 13-6-1. The Chargers won three games in the NAC Tournament by one goal, including road games against the top and second seeds.Â
Â
Colby-Sawyer sophomore
Abbie Sansoucy broke the scoring drought in the 64th minute of play with the game-winner striking a free-kick that went over the head of NEC keeper Mackenzie Meegan. Sansoucy was named NAC Tournament MVP for the second straight season. She scored the game-winner in last year's 1-0 championship victory over NEC in New London.Â
Â
The Pilgrims would try to bring the offensive pressure late finishing the game with the 7-5 advantage in shots on net but they would be unable to get in the scoring column.
Â
Freshman
Sam Mitchell played arguably her best game of the season in the highest pressure situation to pick up the win with seven saves. She was named to the All-Tournament team.Â
Â
Meegan notched four saves in the loss for the Pilgrims.
Colby-Sawyer freshman
Molly MacLure, senior
Rachel Quaye and junior
Corrie Hoyt also earned All-Tournament honors for the Chargers.Â
