PLYMOUTH, N.H. - October 5, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team played into a second overtime for the fourth time this season, but fell at Plymouth State 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Chargers will look to rebound this weekend when they return to North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action. Colby-Sawyer hosts Johnson State on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. followed by a home contest on Sunday at 3 p.m. against Lyndon. Plymouth State improves to 6-2-2 on the season and will return to Little East Conference (LEC) play on Saturday with a 1 p.m. match at Southern Maine.
The game-winner came at 107:43 off the foot of Hannah Kallis. A Colby-Sawyer turnover deep in its own zone, set up Kallis with the chance. After the Chargers' keeper made a run at the ball, Kallis gain controlled and side stepped out of trouble and finished her fourth tally of the season into the open net.
Abbie Sansoucy and
Rachel Quaye had three shots on target apiece to lead Colby-Sawyer.
Annaliese Schmidt made 13 saves to earn the clean sheet, while
Sam Mitchell had eight stops for Colby-Sawyer.
The teams played an even 107 minutes with Colby-Sawyer holding a slim 16-13 edge in shots (13-9 on goal), while Plymouth had a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
