Women's Soccer Wins Regular Season Finale at Thomas, 3-0

WATERVILLE, Maine - October 23, 2016 – The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team finished the regular season with its sixth straight win after defeating Thomas College, 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at Smith Field.

Colby-Sawyer improves to 7-8-1 overall and finish with a 6-2-1 record in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) to secure the third seed in the upcoming tournament. The Chargers will host UMaine-Farmington on Sunday. The Terriers finish at 3-12 overall and 3-5 in the NAC.

Thomas had a couple of early chances in the opening minutes, but Charger keeper Sam Mitchell made two diving saves to keep the game scoreless.

Colby-Sawyer broke open the scoring in the 20th minute as Rachel Quaye sent a centering pass to Lizzie Jorgensen who beat Terrier keeper Paige Leary to the left side.

Seven minutes later, Maddie Chamard sent a through ball to Jorgensen who walked in all alone for her second goal of the game and team best ninth of the season.

With just over two minutes remaining in the first half, Chamard's corner kick found the head of Abbie Sansoucy for a 3-0 lead at the break.

The score remained the same throughout the second half, finishing at 3-0.

Mitchell finished with four saves in 76 minutes of action, while Oona Bond played the final 14 minutes of the contest with one save. Leary made ten saves in her final game as a Terrier. 

olby-Sawyer outshot Thomas 16-5 while the Terriers held a 5-4 advantage in corners.
