NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 22, 2016 – Senior Taylor Lovely (Newport, Maine) scored the lone goal of the game to lift Husson University to a 1-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Division road win at Colby-Sawyer on a cold and rainy Saturday afternoon.
Husson improves to 7-6 overall and 4-1 in the NAC to secure the second seed in the NAC tournament. Colby-Sawyer drops to 11-5 overall and will be the third seed with a 3-2 record. The Chargers will get a chance at redemption next week as they travel to play the Eagles in the NAC semifinals.
In a game that was played primarily between the two 25-yard lines, Lovely's goal in the 21st minute proved to be enough to give the Eagles a victory.
Husson goalie Anne-Marie Provencal (Skowhegan, Maine) made two stops to earn the shutout. Colby-Sawyer sophomore goalie
Xena Ras (Medfield, Mass.) had seven saves in the loss.
The Eagles held advantages of 10-4 in shots and 14-6 in penalty corners.
