Field Hockey Falls at Husson, 5-3 in the NAC East Semifinals

BANGOR, Maine - October 26, 2016 - The Colby-Sawyer field hockey team fell at Husson, 5-3 in Wednesday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Division semifinals. 

Colby-Sawyer, which made the NAC semifinals for the second straight season, drops to 11-6.

Husson improves to 8-6 and will go on to play UMaine-Farmington on Saturday in the NAC East Division finals. The Beavers took care of Thomas, 4-0 in today's other semifinal game.

Junior Lauren Russell (Saco, Maine) gave the home team a 1-0 lead with her team best 11th goal of the season 13 minutes into the game.

Late in the first half, junior Taylor Shaw (Plymouth, Maine) scored a pair of goals in a two minute span to send the Eagles into the break ahead 3-0.

The Chargers cut into the three goal deficit less than four minutes into the second half when sophomore Sierra Schuster (Hopkinton, N.H.) notched her eighth goal of the season. 

Husson would retake a three goal advantage three minutes later. Sophomore Arika Brochu (Augusta, Maine) set up teammate Lauren Russell with her second tally of the game. 

Colby-Sawyer sophomore Jordan Teixeira (Exter, N.H.) once again brought the Chargers within a pair of goals in the 44th minute with her seventh marker of the season. 

The back and forth continued as Husson answered in the 50th minute with its fifth goal of the game. Brochu set up the Eagles' second straight goal when she fed sophomore Sadie Royer (Greene, Maine) who finished past the Colby-Sawyer goalie. 

Conference Rookie of the Year Alie Jones (Cape Neddick, Maine) netted the Chargers' third goal of the half to pull within 5-3 with her team leading 16th goal of the season, but the Eagles would hold on for the victory. 

Husson goalie Anne-Marie Provencal (Skowhegan, Maine) made on stop in the first half to earn the win, while Kaitlin Dolloff played the second half and had two saves and surrendered three goals. Colby-Sawyer sophomore Xena Ras (Medfield, Mass.) had eight saves in the loss.  

Jordan Teixeira and Kailyn Lapham were named to the All-Tournament team.
