NORTON, Mass. – September 22, 2015 - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team fell to nationally ranked Wheaton College, 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon. The Lyons are ranked No. 25 according to the latest D3soccer.com national poll.
The Lyons move to 6-1 overall, while the Chargers drop to 2-2-2. Colby-Sawyer will host Husson on Saturday at 3;30 p.m.
Julia Cipriano got the scoring started for the home team in the 27th minute to get on the board 1-0. She was assisted by Sarah Buckley.
The Chargers put forth an inspired effort in the second stanza taking five shots to the Lyons' six, but could not break through.
In the 74th minute, Aunyes Hermantin found her way and put a perfectly placed shot in the back left side of the net to give Wheaton a 2-0 lead. She was assisted by Wilson.
Goalkeeper Leann Wolf got the win for Wheaton, collecting three saves.
Karley Hamilton (Bradford, Vt.) stopped nine shots in the loss.
