CASTINE, Maine - September 19, 2015 - Colby-Sawyer sophomore
Nell McQueeney (West Danivlle, Vt.) scored the game-winning goal at 74:35 to lift the women's soccer team to a 3-2 win at Maine Maritime in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener for both teams.
The Chargers improve to 2-1-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference. Colby-Sawyer steps out of conference for a Tuesday match at Wheaton. Maine Maritime drops to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the NAC.
Maine Maritime's Susana DeFrank (Temecula, Calfi.) opened the scoring with her second goal of the season on a header goal in the 12th minute, on a ball crossed by Makayla Lewis (Purcellville, Va.).
The Chargers responded nearly eight minutes later when
Dominique Papa (Farmington, Conn.) snuck a ball past Mariner keeper Maggie McConkey (Fryeburg, Maine) to tie the game at 1-1.
Maura Kane (Derry, N.H.) gave the Chargers the lead entering the half with a goal in the 42nd minute.
Lewis put the game at 2-2 in the 58th minute, but the Chargers scored in the 75th minute on a goal from
Nell McQueeney, to take the 3-2 win.
McConkey recorded four saves in net for the home team, while
Karley Hamilton (Bradford, Vt.) stopped two shots in net for the Chargers.
