BANGOR, Maine - February 7, 2015 – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team avenged an early season loss with a 68-43 victory at Husson in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday afternoon in Newman Gymnasium.
The Eagles falls to 13-7 overall and 11-3 in league play while the Chargers go to 12-9 and 8-6 in conference play.
Husson took its first lead of the contest at 11-9 on a Chandler Guerrette jumper with 11:22 left in the first half, and held a 13-11 lead with 10:13 left. The Chargers stormed back, closing the half on a 26-to-8 run to take a 37-21 lead at half.
Guerrette had seven points to lead the Eagles in the first half while
Kelsey Cahill led the Chargers with 10 points. Colby-Sawyer shot 36.1 percent from the field while limiting Husson to 25.0 percent.
The Chargers exploded to take a 56-28 lead midway through the second half, but Husson clawed back, going on a 15-to-2 run and get within 58-43 on a Stephanie Comstock layup with 4:46 left, but could not get any closer.
Lexi Iannone led Colby-Sawyer with 15 points. Cahill finished with 12 points, eight boards and a game-high six steals. Katie McCarthy added 11 points and was 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Jessica Shenkel was the fourth Charger to reach double figures with 10 points. Kristin Ellis filled the stat sheet with nine points, 13 rebounds and five assists. Comstock finished with a team-high 14 points while Guerrette finished with 11. Victoria McIntyre added six points, 13 rebounds and three blocks.
