Women's Basketball Charges Back for 53-44 Win at Lyndon

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. - December 5, 2015 - The Colby-Sawyer College women's basketball team erased a half time deficit to defeat Lyndon, 53-44 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday afternoon. 

Colby-Sawyer improves to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the NAC. The Chargers will host Norwich on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Lyndon falls to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in conference play. 

Trailing 25-21 at the half, the Chargers took their first lead of the game in the third quarter and outscored the Hornets 20-10 to end the frame 41-35. Colby-Sawyer protected the lead in the fourth by scoring 12 points to Lyndon's nine. 

Jessica Shenkel was the lone Charger to reach double figures in scoring with a team best 11 points. Kristin Ellis flirted with a triple double finishing with six points, nine rebounds and a career best eight assists. Katie McCarthy added six points and a career-high eight rebounds.  

Lyndon was led by a double-double from Mikalya Hodge. She scored a game best 15 points and brought down 16 rebounds in the loss. Aimee Thompson added eight points and nine rebounds. 

Each team made 19 baskets on the afternoon, but the Chargers made eight three pointers, while the Hornets made just one. Colby-Sawyer also held a 20-8 edge in bench scoring.
