Women's Basketball Defeated by Husson

BANGOR, Maine - December 11, 2015 - The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team fell at Husson, 69-45 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) road game Friday evening. 

The Chargers drop to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the NAC. The team has a quick turnaround with a 1 p.m contest on Saturday at Maine Maritime in Castine, Maine. 

Lexi Iannone led the Chargers with nine points on 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. Emmani Robinson had six points and seven boards, while Kristin Ellis added four points and a game-high eight rebounds. Marquis MacGlashing collected three more blocks to give her a team best 20 on the season. She has recorded at least one block in six of seven games. 

Chandler Guerrette capped a 9-2 run by the Eagles to the start game with a pair of free throws before a three by Jessica Shenkel sparked a 10-2 run by Colby-Sawyer to put the Chargers up by one, 12-11 with 3:25 remaining in first quarter. The Eagles would close out the quarter on a 6-2 run as Husson took a 17-13 lead into the second quarter. Guerrette contributed seven points, one board and one steal, while Shenkel added five points, one steal, one assist and one board for the Chargers.

The Eagles put together a 14-7 scoring outburst in the second quarter as Rebecca Young, Worcester, Guerrette, Victoria McIntyre, Joan Overman, and Denae Johnson accounted for all the offense as Husson took a 31-20 lead into the intermission.

Guerrette led the Eagles in the first two quarters with nine points, and three steals, while Young charted seven points and Worcester added six points. The Chargers were led by Shenkel who added five points, while Kristin Ellis led all players in the half with eight boards.

Husson erupted for 29 third quarter points and outscored the Chargers 38-25 in the second half en route to the 69-45 victory.  

Worcester finished the game with five boards, one assist and four steals to go along with her game-high 17 points, while Guerrette added 15 points, and four steals and Young contributed 12 points and McIntyre record a team high seven boards.
