Volleyball to Play at Clarkson in NCAA Tournament First Round

NEW LONDON, N.H. - November 9, 2015 - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team will make its eighth NCAA Tournament appearance and fifth straight when they travel to Potsdam, N.Y. to take part in an eight-team regional. The Chargers will play regional host Clarkson University on Friday, November 13. First serve is set for 8 p.m.

Colby-Sawyer won its fifth North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championship on Saturday, which was the program's eighth conference title. The Chargers won three Commonwealth Coast Conference championships (1999, 2003, 2005) before moving to the NAC in 2011. Colby-Sawyer is 3-7 all-time in the NCAA Tournament.

Clarkson (27-8), who is ranked 18th in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll, is coming off a 3-1 win over Union (N.Y.) in the Liberty League Conference tournament. The Golden Knights secured their fourth straight conference title and will make a seventh consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Colby-Sawyer and Clarkson last met on October 23, 2009. The Golden Knights came away with a 3-0 win to increase their all-time advantage over the Chargers to 2-1. Colby-Sawyer earned a 3-2 victory on October 19, 2007. The first meeting between the teams came on September 11, 1998, which was a 3-0 win for Clarkson.

The other regional match-ups at Clarkson will include Williams (18-10) versus Ithaca (30-4), Brockport (33-1) versus Framingham State (25-8), and Springfield (29-3) versus Mount Saint Vincent (17-13).

The tournament will continue on Saturday when the winner of Colby-Sawyer vs. Clarkson will play the winner of Williams (18-10) versus Ithaca (30-4) winner.
