NEW LONDON, N.H. – October 3, 2015 – The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team received a pair of goals from junior
Kelsey Campbell (Upton, Mass.) and one from junior
Lizzie Jorgensen (Manchester, Vt.) in Saturday's 3-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over the University of Maine at Farmington.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 4-2-2 overall and 3-0 in conference action. The Chargers will host Thomas College tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. UMF falls to 2-6-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the NAC. The Beavers travel to New England College for a 2:30 p.m. contest tomorrow.
Kelsey Campbell gave the Chargers an early lead with her first goal of the season at 3:59. Senior
Dominique Papa (Farmington, Conn.) assisted the shot from Campbell that went off the UMF goalie.
Campbell was at it again early in the second half with her second of the match.
Lizzie Jorgensen set up the goal 1:27 into the frame with a cross into the box which was deposited by Campbell.
Jorgensen then notched her first score of the season at 59:56 with a high arching shot from the corner of the 18-yard box that went over the jumping UMF keeper. The play was set up once again by
Dominique Papa.
Senior
Karley Hamilton (Bradford, Vt.) played the first 75:45 in net for the Chargers, while freshman
Oona Bond (Southborough, Mass.) finished the match and made one save for the combined clean sheet.
Sam Hatch (Hebron, Maine) was saddled with the loss for UMF giving up three goals and stopping four shots in 64:07 of action. Sophomore Kiana Thompson (Industry, Maine) went the final 25:53 and made six saves, including a pair of spectacular ones.
