WENHAM, Mass. – January 24, 2015 – The Colby-Sawyer men's swimming and diving team competed at Gordon College Saturday. The Chargers fell to the Fighting Scots, 143-99.
COMPLETE RESULTSThe University of New England was also scheduled to compete at Gordon, but due to inclement weather the team did not travel.
The Chargers were led by sophomore
Josh Paszczuk and freshman
Mason Amitrano. Paszczuk earned a pair of first place finishes in the 50 yard freestyle (24.10) and the 200 yard backstroke (2:10.20). Amitrano placed first in the 50 yard backstroke (27.75) and second in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:06.67).
The duo also helped the 200 yard relay team to a first place finish and the 200 yard medley relay team to a second place finish. Other teammates for both races were sophomore
Brett Cayer and senior
Justin Banos.
Cayer and Banos each earned individual second place finishes on the day. Cayer placed second in the 100 yard (52.48) and 200 yard freestyle (1:57.22) while Banos had the second best time in the 50 yard breaststroke (30.54).
Sophomore
Kyle Sullivan placed second in the 1000 yard freestyle. Sullivan finished in a time of 13:10.56.
The Chargers return to the pool next Saturday when they host the Corsairs of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. The team will celebrate senior day with events beginning at 1:00pm.
