Twelve Chargers Score in 88-21 Win at Green Mountain

POULTNEY, Vt. - January 20, 2015 - The Colby-Sawyer College women's basketball team allowed only a pair of made free throws in the first half en route to an 88-21 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory at Green Mountain on Tuesday evening at the Eagle Dome.

Colby-Sawyer (9-6, 6-3 NAC) had 12 players score and 11 have at least five points and was led by Jessica Shenkel's 16 points. Kristin Ellis was the only other player to score in double figures as she added 12 points. Sarah Donnelly, Marquis MacGlashing and Emmani Robinson each grabbed seven rebounds, while Kylah Jones had four assists and three steals.

Green Mountain (0-13, 0-8 NAC) received 15 points and eight rebounds from Keelin Banks and six points and 11 boards from Torie Cowell.

The Chargers started the game on a 31-0 run and were so tough defensively, the Eagles were not even able to take a shot for the first two and a half minutes. The defensive intensity continued throughout the first half with the visitors not allowing a made shot from the field as GMC was 0-for-22 from the floor.

Colby-Sawyer substituted freely with the large lead. The Eagles were able to generate some offense in the second half with 19 points as the team started to recognize the open spots on the floor.

GMC will return to the court Friday when it takes on the Terriers at Thomas College at 5:30 p.m. Colby-Sawyer is back in action on Saturday as it hosts New England College at 1 p.m.
