Chargers and Maine Maritime to Meet in NAC Semifinals

NEW LONDON, N.H. - February 28, 2014 - The second seeded Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team will play third seeded Maine Maritime on Friday evening at 8:00 p.m. in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) semifinals. The game will be played at Castleton.

The winner will play the Castleton/Husson winner on Saturday afternoon for the NAC title. 

The Mariners and Chargers met twice earlier this season with each team winning at home. On January 18 in Castine, Maine, the Mariners won a low-scoring affair 43-29. No player scored in double figures. 

On February 7, Colby-Sawyer bounced back with a 65-55 victory in New London. The Chargers shot the ball well and was led by a three-point barrage from Ashley Fruzzetti who canned six attempts. Kelsey Cahill added 17 points and 12 rebounds in the win. 

Cahill, who was named All-NAC First Team, leads Colby-Sawyer with 11.2 points and 8.2 rebounds per game, while Second Team All-NAC honoree Fruzzetti is second in scoring with 9.0 points per contest. 

Maine Maritime is led by Ashley Shine. She scores 10.2 points per game and is the lone Mariner in double figures. Second Team All-NAC selection Leah Jackson pulls down 8.8 rebounds and leads the team with 42 steals.
