NEW LONDON, N.H. – December 6, 2014 – Colby-Sawyer senior
Kelsey Cahill (Cumberland, R.I.) scored a game-high 17 points on 8-of-9 shooting to propel the Chargers to an 84-23 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over Green Mountain.
Colby-Sawyer improves to 4-1 overall and is 1-0 in the NAC. The Chargers will travel to Norwich on Tuesday for a 5:30 p.m. tip. Green Mountain drops to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play. The Eagles will play at Skidmore on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
Cahill added five rebounds and four steals for the Chargers. Junior
Jessica Shenkel (Sharon, Mass.) scored 13 points on 5-of-7, while sophomore
Lexi Iannone (North Haven, Conn.) added 12 points. Junior
Katie McCarthy (Mansfield, Mass.) contributed 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Junior
Kylah Jones (Burlington, Vt.) had five assists and four steals in 13 minutes of action, while freshman
Emmani Robinson (Newburgh, N.Y.) grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
Green Mountain was led by a 12-point, 5-rebound effort from junior Allison Wadsworth (Northville, N.Y.). Junior Torie Cowell (Rochester, N.Y.) added six points and six rebounds.
The Chargers led 51-18 at the break thanks to 50% shooting from the floor.
Kelsey Cahill was 5-for-5 from the field for 11 points.
Katie McCarthy made five of six shots for 10 points. Green Mountain shot 25% from the floor in the first 20 minutes.
Colby-Sawyer outscored the Eagles 33-5 in the second frame and allowed only two Green Mountain baskets.
The Chargers had 29 steals in the game, which is tied for the second most in program history.
