NEW LONDON, N.H. – November 8, 2014 – The Colby-Sawyer College women's soccer team won its second straight conference championship with a 1-0 win over Castleton in Saturday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) title match. Colby-Sawyer also defeated the Spartans 1-0 in last season's championship.

The Chargers will make a trip to the NCAA tournament for the second time in school history and will find out Monday at 1:00 p.m. where they will travel and who they will play. Colby-Sawyer increased its win streak to 11 matches and is unbeaten in the last 13 to improve to 13-5-1. Castleton drops to 12-8-1 and will wait to see if they have earned a bid to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) tournament.  

The lone goal of the contest came at 55:12 when Colby-Sawyer sophomore Kelsey Campbell (Upton, Mass.) gathered the ball off a Castleton turnover. Campbell then raced into the right side of the box and scored into the cross corner of the net past the dive of Castleton keeper Jessica Binkowski (Goshen, Conn.). Campbell was named NAC Tournament MVP.

The visitors controlled possession in the first half and outshot Colby-Sawyer 8-1. Junior senior Blaire Hooper (Waitsfield, Vt.) had a pair of chances in the ninth and 45th minutes, but was denied by Colby-Sawyer keeper Karley Hamilton (Bradford, Vt.). Junior Mallory Costello (Vernon, N.J.) and junior Jess Phillips (Drewsville, N.H.) also registered a shot on goal. Costello and Phillips were named to the All-Tournament team.

After the Chargers went in front 1-0, they kept up the pressure and forced Binkowski to make a couple of tough saves to keep the Spartans close. In the 74th minute, Colby-Sawyer sophomore Lizzie Jorgensen (Manchester, Vt.) was on a break-away and took a shot towards the upper left corner. Castleton's 5-foot-9 goalie jumped with an outstretched arm to deflect the ball over the crossbar. Four minutes later senior Sarah Little (Scarborough, Maine) took a shot from 20-yards out that was corralled by Binkowski for the match's last threat.

Hamilton made six saves to record her ninth shutout of the season for the Chargers. Binkowski had three saves for Castleton.
