NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. - November 15, 2014 - The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team opened the 2014-15 season with an impressive 93-39 victory over the University of Maine-Presque Isle on the first day of the UMass Dartmouth Classic on Saturday afternoon.
The Chargers (1-0) will play UMass Dartmouth tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
Colby-Sawyer controlled the action throughout and shot the ball well in the first contest of the season. The Chargers were 47.9% from the floor and 46.2% from beyond the arc. The team defense was also stout and held the Owls to 16.7% from the floor.
The Chargers led 44-20 at the half and outscored the opponents 49-19 in the second.
Lexi Iannone led all players with 19 points on 7-10 shooting. She was 5-7 from beyond the arc.
Kelsey Bragdon scored 15 on 5-8 shooting and collected a team best three steals.
Kelsey Cahill also reached double figure points with 10 and tied for the team lead with
Alyssa Keefe and
Emmani Robinson with seven rebounds.
