FARMINGTON, Maine - October 26, 2014 - The Colby-Sawyer women's soccer team ran the table in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) for the second straight season, finishing 9-0 after a 5-1 victory at UMaine-Farmington, in a regular season finale on Sunday.
Colby-Sawyer finishes the regular season with an 11-5-1 overall record and have won nine straight matches and are unbeaten in their last 11 contests. The Beavers drop to 8-8-1 overall and 5-3-1 in the NAC.
The pairings and times of the NAC tournament that begins next week will be released later.
The Chargers scored twice in the first half to take command of the match. On the heels of a two-assist contest on Saturday,
Kelsey Campbell assisted both of Colby-Sawyer's first half goals.
Maura Kane scored the first when she headed in a corner kick from Campbell in the seventh minute.
Sarah Little then scored off a Campbell throw-in in the 35th minute.
Michelle Upham added to her team leading goal total with her seventh of the season, 5:35 into the second half off an assist from
Rachel Quaye.
Campbell broke through with a goal of her own less than three minutes later. She headed a ball past the keeper off a nicely placed cross from
Dominique Papa.
Lizzie Jorgensen tacked on a fifth goal for Colby-Sawyer in the 72nd minute.
UMF broke-up the shutout with 3:32 left in the match. Alexandra Crocker set up her teammate Baylee Doughty who deposited the ball by the Charger keeper who came out to challenge the play.
Karley Hamilton made two saves in the win for the Chargers. Thia Bridges made seven saves in 78 minutes for the Beavers.
