BIDDEFORD, Maine - January 25, 2014 - The Colby-Sawyer women's swimming and diving team earned a pair of victories on Saturday afternoon. The Chargers defeated Gordon 182.5-72.5 and the host University of New England 144-117.
RESULTS
Krystyna Estrada set a pool record in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:03.18.
Estrada and
Elaine Miller led the Chargers by winning each of their events. Each won three races and teamed with senior
Erin Dunican and sophomore
Emma Nagle to place first in the 200-yard medley relay. Estrada also won the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard individual medley, while Miller bested all competitors in the 50-yard free, 50-yard backstroke and 200-yard backstroke. Nagle supported their efforts with a pair of wins (50 fly, 100 fly).
Senior
Erin Dunican earned a first place finish in the 50 yard backstroke finishing in a time of 34.60 and placed second in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:15.82). Dunican also helped the 400 yard freestyle team of Nagle,
Jen Gavell and
Meghan Mamlock to a second place finish in a time of 3:58.23. Gavell and Mamlock also rounded out the top three in the 100 yard freestyle with Gavel taking second in a time of 59.92 and Mamlock finishing third in 1:01.33.
Sophomore
Hannah Willcutt earned a second place finish in the 500 yard freestyle. Wilcutt finished in a time of 6:13.46.
The Chargers will compete at UMass Dartmouth next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
