WENHAM, Mass. - September 4, 2013 - The Colby-Sawyer women's tennis team fell to Gordon, 5-4 in a nonconference contest Wednesday evening.
The Chargers drop to 1-2 on the season and will play their first home match on September 11 against Plymouth. Gordon improves to 1-0.
The No. 1 doubles duo of
Elizabeth Lincoln and
Ashlyn Ramsay earned the Chargers' first point of the match with an 8-3 win. Gordon took a 2-1 lead after doubles play with an 8-6 win at No. 2 and an 8-5 win at No. 3.
Colby-Sawyer won three singles matches, but fell to the Fighting Scots 5-4.
After a tough first set win (7-6),
Ashlyn Ramsay won the second 6-3 to beat her opponent at the second flight.
Charlotte Horton won in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles, while
Oxana Tkachenko did not lose a game en route to a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at No. 4.
