Volleyball Wins Two at Bates Tri-Match

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LEWISTON, Maine - September 27, 2013 - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team won a pair of matches on Friday evening at Bates College. The Chargers began the night with a 3-0 sweep over Brandeis and finished with a 3-1 victory over Bates.

The Chargers picked up their second 3-0 win over the Judges in less than a week. Senior Courtney O'Hara was the lone player on either team to reach double-figure kills with 13, while hitting .417.

Juniors Stephanie Vecchio and Jackie Keating had nine kills apiece. 

Setter Laura Smolinski had a match-high 27 assists, while Julia Yee chipped in with a match best four service aces. 

Colby-Sawyer compiled at least 12 kills in each of the three games and held Brandeis to .083 hitting.

Stephanie Vecchio led four Chargers in double-figure kills with 16. She hit .387 and added four block assists. 

Jackie Keating registered a double-double of 11 kills and 15 digs, while Emilee McBride and Courtney O'Hara each finished with 10 kills. O'Hara added six block assists.

Laura Smolinski recorded match-highs of 45 assists and four service aces. 

Ally Le-Bruno collected 25 digs in the win. 

The Chargers will play two more matches on Saturday against the University of New Brunswick and Bowdoin. The matches will be played at Bowdoin.
